Start on oneWYO (optional)
WYDOT says you can start your application on oneWYO and schedule an appointment in an office there. You sign in with a Login.gov account.
Go to a driver exam station
Apply in person at your local driver exam station. Hours and availability vary by location and day, so check the location first.
At the station
Surrender your out-of-state license, show your documents, have your photo taken and pass a vision screening. You may also need a written or driving test, for example if you've never been licensed. Pay by check, money order or cash. You can't hold a Wyoming license and ID card at the same time.
Wait for your card
Expect 4-6 weeks from the date of issuance. To have it mailed to an address other than the one on your application, fill in WYDOT's Forwarding Request form.
Common reasons people get turned away
- Residency documents must be no more than 45 days old, from two different entities, and show a physical address (not a PO Box, PMB or mail drop).
- Photocopies, notarized documents, online printouts and hospital birth certificates are not accepted.
- Change your name with Social Security before you apply, or WYDOT can't verify your new name.
- A marriage certificate can only change your last name; any other name change needs a court order.
