How long do new New Jersey residents have to transfer their license and registration?

NJ MVC says new residents must transfer their out-of-state license and vehicle title/registration within 60 days of moving or before the current documents expire, whichever comes first.

Within 60 days of your move, or sooner if your current license or registration expires first. The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission applies that deadline to transferring both your out-of-state driver license and your vehicle title and registration.

Both steps require an appointment: MVC tells you to book a license transfer at a motor vehicle license center and to book a separate new title or registration appointment for your vehicle. Check MVC's page for current fees and documents.
