How can I tell if my driver's license is REAL ID compliant?

REAL ID-compliant cards carry a marking, such as a gold star, near the top of the card; if you are unsure, check with your state's DMV.

Look at the top of the card. TSA says REAL ID-compliant licenses and ID cards carry one of the approved markings near the top, and a DHS fact sheet describes it as a gold star or similar mark, generally in the top right or left corner. According to TSA, a card without such a marking is not REAL ID-compliant and can't be used as your ID to board a commercial flight.

If you can't tell whether your card qualifies, TSA and DHS both point you to your state's DMV or equivalent agency.
